2022 IICJ Grant Application

Pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes 51-81c, the Connecticut Bar Foundation receives and distributes funds from the interest generated from lawyers’ trust accounts (IOLTA) and accounts that receive loan proceeds from a mortgage lender (IOTA) to support nonprofit corporations whose principal purpose is providing legal services to the poor in Connecticut. Additional funding to support this grant program is provided by the Connecticut Judicial Branch through Court Fees Grants-in-Aid and a Judicial Branch Grant-in-Aid.

Grant Eligibility

An IICJ grant recipient must:

  •    Be a nonstock nonprofit corporation qualified as tax exempt under Sections 501(a) and 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code;
  •    Have as its principal purpose the delivery of legal services to the poor in Connecticut;
  •    Have certified financial statements for the three preceding years and have an appointed independent certified auditing firm; and
  •    Have registered with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.
