Since 1998, CBF has sponsored symposia focusing on alternative dispute resolution (ADR), all of which have been hosted at Quinnipiac School of Law. The symposia are named for former CT Supreme Court Justice John A. Speziale, in recognition of his work in the field and his leadership as the first Chair of the James Cooper Fellows.

 Patricia Nunez, MS, has over 30 years of experience working in the criminal legal and behavioral health fields. She has designed and managed programs and services for Connecticut’s juvenile criminal legal system including pre-trial detention, post-adjudicatory residential treatment and community supervision. Mrs. Nunez develops and implements best practices for measuring youth success, reentry and transition, restorative justice, education and vocational services, positive youth development and gender responsiveness. Patricia has been on a 10-year journey of deep learning about restorative practices and is a strong advocate for infusing restorative justice into daily work with the Judicial Branch, stakeholders, youth and families. She presently works with Juvenile Probation Services and worked to launch the Restorative Justice Response Team (RJRT) in 2023. She is a graduate of the Yale School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry, Yale Leadership Program in Behavioral Health and University of New Haven Tow Youth Justice Institute, Transforming Youth Justice Leadership Program. Mrs. Nunez is a certified trainer for the JBCSSD Training Academy.
