CBF Team

We are a committed group of professionals who are passionate about bridging the civil legal access to justice gap. Our mission is to facilitate systemic change that advances civil justice for all, regardless of power or resources, to achieve a more just and equitable society. 

CBF strives to be:

  1. a trusted voice and strategic steward of funding 
  2. a leader in building a stronger civil legal aid system, and 
  3. a convener of legal professionals and community advocates.

Bruce Hiltunen

Bruce Hiltunen

Bruce joined CBF as Chief Financial Officer in March 2023. He leads the accounting team’s financial management, investments and budgeting and supports operations and strategic planning. Bruce has over 25 years of non-profit finance experience, most recently with Community Foundation of Western MA after spending 10 years with the Boston Bar Association/Foundation. He has a BS in accounting and an MBA, both from the University of Massachusetts.

Bruce is an avid cyclist who moved to Connecticut from the Boston area in 2015.
