Aniosca Cortina

Aniosca Cortina

Aniosca (Ani) Cortinas serves as the Staff Attorney and Supervising Attorney for the Unaccompanied Children Program at the Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI). She oversees program management, conducts visits to government facilities, and ensures the successful fulfillment of program objectives. Ani specializes in providing direct legal services, with a focus on representing detained and released minors before the Hartford immigration court, overseeing state court orders, and representing children seeking asylum before US Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Ani's legal expertise is concentrated in cases related to Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and asylum, significantly contributing to the program's proficiency and effectiveness. Having immigrated from Cuba at the age of 5, Ani feels a special connection to the population she serves. Being a native Spanish speaker allows her to communicate directly with clients, developing deeper connections within her community.
