 Connecticut Bar Foundation—for our first panel of Awareness Week 2023: “Se
 xual Assault on Campus & Title IX: Balancing the Interests of the Victim a
 nd the Accused.” \n\nPassed in 1972\, Title IX prohibits discrimination on
  the basis of sex in higher education\; more specifically\, Title IX prote
 cts students from sexual assault and sexual harassment.  Over the past thr
 ee presidential administrations (i.e. Obama\, Trump\, and Biden)\, Title I
 X regulations and enforcement have seesawed\, and today Title IX has becom
 e the focus of fierce debates as to how to protect students from sexual vi
 olence while providing due process protections for those who have been acc
 used.\n\nTo explore these debates\, and to identify areas of possible cons
 ensus\, we have invited three experts—each working within the Title IX fra
 mework but from distinct vantage points—to share their perspectives and ex
 periences.  The panel will begin by exploring the basics of how Title IX w
 orks: the actors\, the process and procedures\, and concepts like “affirma
 tive consent” & “restorative justice.”  Panelists will then be asked to id
 entify areas where the Title IX framework is working effectively and also 
 to highlight areas ripe for reform.\n\nOur panel features:\n•	Felice Duffy\
