2024 Fellows Opportunity Catalog

How can YOU get involved?

SUPPORTING THE MISSION OF THE CONNECTICUT BAR FOUNDATION

The CBF’s mission is to facilitate systemic change that advances civil justice for all,
regardless of power or resources, to achieve a more just and equitable society

The James W. Cooper Fellows help further that mission by developing and sponsoring projects and programs to promote a better understanding of the legal profession, the judicial system, and the role of law in society; to explore ways to improve the profession and the administration of justice; and to further the highest ideals of the legal system. Fellows programs tackle topics of timely importance to the legal community. Each Fellow has the unique opportunity to participate in Fellows' activities, and may recommend new programs to the Foundation.

The CBF has many exciting programs planned for 2024 (and beyond!) with which you can help.  Each program is detailed below and was developed in collaboration with the Fellows Education and Program Committee (FEPC). Click on a program title to learn more.

Please consider getting involved with one or more of these projects, and sharing your talents, networks, and expertise to create impactful programming for the Fellows and the Connecticut legal community at large.  For more information, please contact the Foundation at ctbf@ctbarfdn.org.

Please use the form at the bottom of this page to volunteer for any of our Fellows programs.

GETTING INVOLVED

As a Fellow, you can get involved with our programming in ways big and small, depending on your interests and available time. From simply joining one or more committees and attending periodic meetings, to spearheading the production of a new or existing program, the choice is yours. We also welcome you to present your own ideas, and have the Fellows help you develop and present a new program of your design.

Fellows who have been involved with CBF programs have found the experience worthwhile, educational, and fulfilling, and have created new friendships and networks that remain long after the program concludes. Fellows acquire a deeper understanding of the topic through their participation in the development process. Some programs have even instigated meaningful changes to Connecticut law or policy, providing a sustained benefit to residents.

The time needed to plan a program is as much or as little as a Fellow wants to give. On average, developing a program involves approximately 2 to 4 hours per month until it is presented. If you join a program development team, you need not speak at the event unless you choose to; you should feel free to join a committee simply to share your ideas about the topic, speakers, or format.

Thank you in advance for your commitment to the Foundation, and for helping continue the tradition of high-quality CBF programming.
